U2 have canceled their headlining show at the U.K.’s Glastonbury Music Festival
, along with 16 other shows. This after [lastfm]Bono[/lastfm]‘s emergency back surgery last week in Munich, Germany.
The singer was reportedly suffering from partial paralysis in his lower legs, which was caused by disc fragments that had broken into his spinal canal.
“Our biggest and I believe best tour has been interrupted and we’re all devastated,” the band’s manager Paul McGuinness said in a statement. “For a performer who lives to be on stage, this is more than a blow.”
“He feels robbed of the chance to do what he does best and feels like he has badly let down the band and their audience,” the manager said of Bono. “Which is of course nonsense. His concerns about more than a million ticket buyers whose plans have been turned upside down, we all share, but the most important thing right now is that Bono make a full recovery.”
McGuinness also stated that the band is currently working with LiveNation to reschedule the dates as quickly as possible.
