The annual Nathan’s Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest is when 20 individuals line up behind a 30-foot table at Nathan’s flagship restaurant in Coney Island to begin the world hot dog eating championship. Last year’s winner Joey Chestnut will be competing again on Monday, he holds the world record of eating 68 hot dogs and buns.

The 6-foot-tall, 218-pound engineering student is currently ranked #1 in the world by the International Federation of Competitive Eating. Last year, Chestnut secured his fourth straight Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest, by consuming 54 hot dogs in what he himself describes as a disappointing performance. Impressive especially since he does not even like hotdogs!
