For the fourth year, Fresh Artist and American Idol alum David Cook is heading to DC to bring awareness to brain cancer.
“The Night of Hope” concert is set for this Saturday (May 5th) at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA, followed by the “Race for Hope” Sunday at Freedom Plaza – all to raise money for Brain Cancer Research. Over $1.7 million has been raised so far – a credit to Cook’s year-round crusade to finding a cure for brain cancer.
“I’ve seen more awareness,” said Cook. “And I still hear stories from people who’ve been touched by the disease.”
Cook’s oldest brother, Adam, died from brain cancer in 2009 – and oddly enough, a guitar player from one of his early performances was just diagnosed with the same disease.
“It is a disease that does not discriminate,” says Cook. “As I become more of a mouthpiece against the disease, I’ve heard more of those stories…. You don’t really acknowledge the scope of the disease, until you see the scope of the disease.”
You can check out a rare full band acoustic performance with David Cook Saturday night at the State Theater – part of the ‘Night of Hope.” Get full details on the 94.7 Fresh FM Events page
