It was one year ago today:  August 23, 2011 at 1:53pm when we experienced the 5.8 magnitude earthquake in the Washington, DC area.

I was in the studio doing my Fresh Midday show and I had 3 co-workers hanging out with me- Darik Kristofer (Afternoon Personality), Jen Richer from The Tommy Show and David Garcia who was the Fresh Promotions Director at the time.

Jen and David grew up in California so they knew right away that all that moving and shaking was an EARTHQUAKE.

I’m from Massachusetts so I was CLUELESS.

Singer/Songwriter Mat Kearney was also in the building to do a special performance for us.  It was fun to hang out with him in the parking lot after we evacuated the building and waited for the “all clear” to come back in.
