EMERGENCY APPS: If your smartphone still has juice, I want you to download these two apps now. The Red Cross Hurricane app which keeps you updated on all the storm info but it also has a feature that will message most of your important contacts with one text message. The other one is The Flash Light app – for obvious reasons, but it also has a function that does SOS.
ADVENTURES IN EATING: Most restaurants are closed again today but if you do need to venture out here’s whats open: Chef Geoff’s in Rockville, Green Turtle in Old Town Fairfax, Crystal City Sports Pub in Arlington, and Bourbon Steak downtown are open for lunch and dinner.
Agora and Tel’Veh Cafe downtown are open and doing Wine about Sandy wine specials. Drafting Table, and they too are open today and are offering a Dark & Stormy cocktail for $6.
And if you are stuck downtown and need to grab lunch, Peacock Cafe cafe and the Clyde’s restaurants in Georgetown, Gallery Place, Columbia, Reston and Chevy Chase, as well as their Tombs and Old Ebbitt are open for lunch.
