On Sunday night, Buddy Guy, Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman, Natalia Makarova and Led Zeppelin were honored for their lifetime contributions to American culture. 

The 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors will air on Dec. 26 at 9 p.m. on CBS.

The red carpet was packed with celebrities from Alec Baldwin to Kid Rock.  The evening is always full of only-in-Washington moments like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accidentally stepping on Naomi Watts’ dress.

President Obama welcomed the honorees to the White House just before Sunday’s performance.  We asked David Letterman about the White House … his answer might may surprise you.
