It’s rude when people call you and proceed to have conversations with other people in the background.
The rule is: If people call you, they have an obligation to focus on talking to you.
If they initiated it, they carry the responsibility.
If you call somebody, you’re asking them to take time out of their day for you. Don’t waste it.
If you absolutely have to focus your attention on somebody else, be polite and apologize and call them back.
Naturally, there are exceptions…
- If you have kids and need to attend to them.
- A general emergency needs to be addressed.
Am I being too fussy about this? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Feel free to add to the exception list below or on our Facebook page.
