John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting is the headliner at this year’s Breast Cancer Bites event.

And while he’s excited about his performance, the event itself holds a special importance to him and his family.

Ondrasik — a self-proclaimed foodie — shared that his wife’s family has survivors of the disease.

“There’s nothing better than using your music to help make a difference and raise money for good causes,” he said.

Ondrasik said all the breast cancer awareness events not only help raise money for treatment research, but also help spread the word about the importance of early detection.

“We’ve seen great progress in the cure and care of breast cancer over the last decade. Frankly, a lot of it is a result of events like this.”

Don’t miss Ondraski play songs from Five For Fighting’s new album, “BookMarks,” at Breast Cancer Bites on Oct. 6.
