During big snow storms, it’s hard enough for the young generation to get around town but imagine what life is like for older men and women who don’t have the ability to dig themselves out of the snow. That’s where the Yetis come into play.
SnowCrew.org enlists big-hearted “Yetis,” with time on their hands, to connect with elderly and disabled neighbors to dig them out of messy snow. Joe Porchelli is organizing the band of do-gooders and he told us there are over 100 people ready to help within 200 miles of D.C.
Volunteers can join the SnowCrew.org website and scout for neighbors in need of assistance. A map will show people who have asked for help and where they are located exactly. Once the job has been completed, mark it with a ‘Shoveled’ check-mark and move on to the next place.
