On the same day late night talk host Seth Meyers was deemed one of the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine, the Emmy Awards announced the comedian as host for this year’s festivities.

“Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards,” said head of the Television Academy Bruce Rosenblum in a statement.

Meyers recently took over the late night reigns for Jimmy Fallon, who moved to The Tonight Show when Jay Leno passed the torch in February 2014.  He was also a regular cast member on “Saturday Night Live.”

He takes the place of last year’s host, Neil Patrick Harris.

The Emmys will air on NBC on Monday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m. ET.
