September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and to draw attention to the disease, Carey Fitzmaurice of Bethesda, Md. and her family started painting their toes teal.
Why teal? It’s the color of Ovarian Cancer research, fundraising and awareness efforts.
By painting her toes teal, she says it increases conversation when people ask her why her toes are painted such a bright color. Even men have been taking part in the project, donning the color to promote awareness.
To promote her initiative, she joined The Tommy Show on Sept. 10 alongside our co-host for the day: Holly Morris.
Eight years ago, Carey was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer herself and today, tens of thousands of toes nationwide have been painted to celebrate survivors and promote research.
