Every Little Step, as the title suggests, walks through each step in his life from childhood, through the New Edition. Then it covers his “Don’t Be Cruel” solo days and moves into his marriages to Whitney Houston and Alicia Etheredge-Brown. There are testimonials from family members, Ralph Tresvant and producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.

Brown details his own bad boy behaviors, as well as Houston’s. He admits to his many sexual affairs, including liaisons with Janet Jackson and Madonna. He shares details about his drug problems and his encounters with the law.

He also insists he was not responsible for Houston’s death, claiming she was using cocaine before him and even after his recovery. He also shares her “bad girl” behaviors and claims she cheated on him with numerous partners, including the late Tupac Shakur and other producers and artists she worked with.

According to the book, Brown’s daughter with Kim Ward, LaPrincia Brown, was in the car with Houston, Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon one time someone sparked up a joint. “They all started smoking pot together. Yes, she [Whitney] was smoking with them.”

Brown battled with singer Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother, and other family members and alleges a public “orchestration” intended to keep him from his daughter and seal his “nefarious” reputation. He tragically writes, “Both Whitney and Kristi had been tragically lost on their watch, not mine.”
