It was the face that launched a thousand disses. When Taylor Swift accepted her second GRAMMY for Album of the Year in February, cameras caught Tori Kelly looking less than thrilled during the pop star’s acceptance speech. That face has returned once more as Swift’s feud with Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian reaches a boiling point.
Twitter has been running rampant since Kardashian leaked audio of Swift approving West’s line in “Famous.” Swift’s detractors are having a field day with the story, reveling in the thought that popular opinion is turning against her. Swift, of course, struck back with something to say about that underhanded move, but that hasn’t stopped the hashtags #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty and #KimExposedTaylorParty from trending.
Kelly unwittingly became the leader thanks to the shade she seemed to be throwing at the 2016 GRAMMYs. Although she has not said anything about the feud, Twitter users have been using that reaction to say everything they need to about Swift. “When @ToriKelly knew from day one [Swift] was spouting lies in her Grammy speech,” one user wrote with a screenshot of Kelly’s face from the awards ceremony.
At the time, Swift threw West under the bus without actually naming him. “I want to say to all the young women out there—there are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” she said. Her comments followed West’s “Famous” track at the time. On it, he claimed he made “that b—h famous.”
Kelly later stated cameras just caught her at a bad moment and she wasn’t really throwing any shade Swift’s way. Haters, however, see it very differently.
