Effectively countering messages by Donald Trump and continuing the Democratic theme of unity, Lenny Kravitz performed “Let Love Rule” at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center last night (July 27) at the DNC.
Kravitz stepped up to the mic to play his 1989 single after former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Dressed in a flower-patterned shirt, a large gold necklace and dark shades, Kravitz was backed by a saxophonist and full choir.
As he wrapped up the song, Kravitz said, “We got to let love rule. One God, one planet, one people, and love is the only solution.”
A Broadway ensemble performance of “What the World Needs Now is Love,” was the other musical highlight of last night’s convention. Earlier in the week, Alicia Keys, Paul Simon and Demi Lovato performed for the crowd and pledged their support to Clinton.
