The local food scene continues to generate buzz outside the DMV. Bon Appétit has named D.C. “restaurant city of the year.”
The magazine recently shared the 50 finalists for its “Hot 10,” the annual ranking of the 10 best new restaurants in the country, and three D.C. restaurants made the cut: The Dabney, Tail Up Goat and Bad Saint.
Bon Appétit credits chefs like José Andrés, Peter Pastan, Jamie Leeds and Eric Ziebold with laying the groundwork for the city’s culinary evolution.
Restaurants such as Maketto, Convivial, Espita Mezcaleria, Daikaya, Masseria and more are name-checked in the article.
“What all these restaurants have in common is fearlessness…These are chefs and restaurateurs who are simply taking their passions and diverse backgrounds and turning those into the restaurants of their dreams,” Bon Appétit says.
The magazine will announce the restaurants in its Hot 10 on August 16.
