The Chainsmokers weren’t big fans of Lady Gaga’s first single “Perfect Illusion” off her upcoming album Joanne, but she’s hoping the DJ duo will give her newest single “A-Yo” a chance.

Rolling Stone published an interview with The Chainsmokers—aka Alex Pall and Drew Taggart—in which they admitted rather bluntly what they thought about “Perfect Illusion.” Pall said about the track, “It sucks.” His musical partner Drew Taggart tried to soft the comment, offering, “She’s a great artist—like, Jeff Koons made a sculpture of her.”
Hearing Taggart’s point, Pall added, “I agree, and a lot of talented people worked on that song. But…” He couldn’t even finish the thought, and instead the magazine reported that he scrunched up his face as if he’d eaten something rotten.
Now, Gaga is having some fun at their expense, tweeting them about her new single “A-Yo” and asking if they like it better. “#AYO @TheChainsmokers maybe u guys’ll like this 1 better,” she wrote followed by a peace sign emoji and several lit cigarettes. It’s a cheeky move from the pop star, who knows she doesn’t need their approval and yet is able to have some fun with what they initially said about her.
The Chainsmokers were quick to respond writing “Haha @ladygaga RESPECT 🙌🏼.”
